August 2020 Review: Magic Colours Bling Bling Edible Glitter

This month we had the chance to try Bling Bling edible glitter from Magic Colours!

Magic Colours Bling Bling Edible Glitter

To test both the Gold and Snow White shades we decided to make a pair of simple daisy cupcakes, along with a trial on a bar of milk chocolate.

Bling Bling Edible Glitter can be used on many edible mediums including, modelling paste, sugarpaste, marzipan, buttercream, ganache, flower paste, chocolate and more! Each pot contains 10ml of high shine 100% edible glitter which can be either directly sprinkled or brushed on to your edible creations. Bling Bling is not water soluble so it can’t be used directly in buttercream or piping gels as it doesn’t dissolve.

First, we began with brushing a very thin layer of edible glue directly on to a bar of milk chocolate. The edible glue will help create a more solid appearance to the glitter, but for a finer finish you could dry brush the glitter using a soft brush. We were impressed with the high shine and fine texture of this product. It almost has an appearance of craft glitter which really catches the light! We also liked how little product we needed to use, a little certainly goes a long way! Both shades stood out equally on the chocolate and stuck really well without the use of any additional edible glue.

To create our cupcakes, we began with adding small amounts of buttercream under two disks of white sugarpaste and set aside. Taking more white sugarpaste we cut out two simple daisy shapes and formed a centre for each flower, brushing a slightly thicker layer of edible glue over the surface.

Next, taking a bit more glitter than before, we began lightly patting on the glitter to create a heavily jewelled effect. This worked well and created a more solid appearance on the toppers using both colours. The photos do not do this product justice, in person the toppers appear beautifully textured with the Bling Bling glitter and catch the light brilliantly! Just imagine how much glamour you could add to your creations using this product, especially around Christmas time!

To complete our cupcakes, we carefully transferred the flowers securing with a little edible glue. Even after testing on both the chocolate and the cakes there was still plenty of glitter to be used for the next project!

Overall, we could not be more impressed with Bling Bling Edible Glitter from Magic Colours. Finding a high-shine 100% edible glitter can be challenging, but we couldn’t be happier with the results of this product. It’s gluten free, fat free, GMO Free, vegan friendly, kosher certified, EC/FDA approved. It also has a great texture, fantastic high-shine appearance and can be used on many edible mediums with professional results! – Very highly recommended!
