Disney Deviant Sugar Art Collaboration

The ever so popular disney characters are usually know for their sweet nature however, this collaboration shows a different light on your favourite disney characters. We speak to Mayra Estrada to find out more…

Tell us about your collaboration

Cassandra Rice and I thought it would be interesting to recreate/transform Disney characters in a deviant manner.  Deviant can be interpreted in different ways.  It was interesting to see how each artist recreated their characters in a deviant manner.

Adela Calvo

What inspired you to do this theme?

Disney characters have been a part of our lives for years not to mention popular. Cassandra and I thought it would be fun to recreate Disney characters in a deviant manner. It was interesting to see the different takes that each artist took as they created their characters in a deviant manner.

Tell us about a few of the pieces that have been made

Everyone was so creative and each piece was amazing.

How many members were in your collaboration?

22 members

How did you decide on this group of people?

There are so many amazing sugar artists and invitations are extended to so many, but unfortunately, not all of them accept or respond.

Did anything go wrong during the process?

When hosting collaboration, you may encounter losing some amazing talent due to unforeseen commitments. I am thankful that Cassandra Rice is an amazing co-admin and cannot thank the amazing group of sugar artists enough.

If you were to do it again, what would you do differently?

We would love to do this again. It is always fun when sugar artists come together to share their passion for sugar art.

If you were to do another collaboration, how should others get involved?

If you want to get involved, please message us on our page.  We love finding new talent.
