We’ve seen so many exciting things from IBE in Hong Kong, that was held 3-5th December 2015. With a huge area of the hall dedicated to cake decoration, brands such as Wilton, Satin Ice, The Sugar Art, Katy Sue Designs and Silikomart with stands, and demonstrations from some of the biggest names in the industry, the show was a huge success.
To decide on the Hong Kong team for the World Trophy of Pastry Ice Cream and Chocolate Competition 2017 in Milan, Italy a Live Sugar Sculpture with Modern Cake Competition was held at this year’s IBE. The cakes and sugar sculptures they created under the pressure of limited time and a live audience is amazing!
Congratulations to the winners: 1st Chung Ho Fai, 2nd Leung Pui Ming, 3rd Ng Ki Ki. We look forward to seeing them work together in Milan in 2017!
There was some beautiful work to be seen in the two competition categories. For the Mini Cake Competition awards went to Lam Woon Yin (Gold), Chu Kit Yan, Cindy (Gold), Therese Ho (Silver) and Choi Wai Chong (Bronze). For the Sugar Floral Art Competition awards went to Woo Mei Na (Distingue), Ng Yeuk Hei (Gold), Tsang ka Yee (Silver) and Kwan Tsz Ching (Bronze).
We would’ve loved to see the Royal Icing demonstrations and workshops from Kathleen Lange, Kristina Rado and David MacCarfrae. Also at the show was Chef Mike Terry, sugar flower extraordinaire, Robert Haynes and Pastry Chef of the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, Ringo Chan.
We can’t wait for IBE 2016, which will be held from 1st to 3rd Dec 2016, where a brand new “International Cake Competition – Asia” will be launched! For more details stay tuned to IBE
