Where has this year gone?! Christmas is just on our doorstep and we have lots in this issue to keep you busy!
We have “Part 2” of Christine Jensen’s journey to meet her cake idols, and this time she tells us about visiting the Cake Don himself: Mike McCarey from Mike’s Amazing Cakes. Mike is known for his amazing attention to detail and, more importantly, consideration of scale when it comes to novelty cakes.
Our cover star is Vicky Turner, of The Yellow Bee Cake Company, who shows us how to make her brilliant Christmas Tree Cake that truly encapsulates festive spirit and even includes a fruit cake recipe! With this issue you can learn to make beautiful cookies from Lindy Smith, a cute Christmas characters cake from Alice at Karen Davies Sugarcraft, and a simple but stunning Wreath Cake from Michelle Sohan of Bakery Treatz. We also have a spectacular, tall Festive Celebration Cake which is easily achievable with step-by-step instructions from Melanie Byrne of the Enchanting Merchant Co., and a fabulous spherical cake carving tutorial from Renshaw, who take us through how to use this shape to create three wonderful designs. Last, but by no means least, is Dawn Butler, inventor of CakeFrame; we are really excited about the Stacked Christmas Presents tutorial she has created for the magazine.
