Funtasty food flavors – fractal colors

This month, we had the chance to try a selection of FunTasty Food Flavors by Fractal Colors.

Their water, oil and alcohol-soluble colourless powders give an intense new taste and aroma to your favourite delicacies. With their help, you can reimagine any food!

We were sent 9 flavours to try: Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate, Mango, Toffee, Raspberry, Walnut, Hazelnut and Coffee. Using Strawberry and Vanilla, we decided to make a pink dessert loaf cake.

To begin, we prepared our cake batter using a simple Victoria sponge recipe. Using a teaspoon, we scooped some of the Strawberry flavour directly from the pot and added into the mix.

We really like how most the flavours are colourless, so you can add any additional shades required for a specific design. After mixing in a final dot of pink gel, the cake was ready for the oven. The batter had a great strawberry ice cream scent!

Once the cake had cooled, we mixed up some runny icing using icing sugar and water. We added a scoop of Vanilla flavour and mixed thoroughly.

We really like how the powders blend nicely into the food. They don’t cause any change in consistency, colour or texture; they just simply dissolve, leaving behind a lovely aroma and a light flavour.
